The UGC NET 2024 exam, which was held on June 18, 2024, in pen and paper mode, has been cancelled due to concerns about its fairness. A total of 9,08,580 candidates appeared for the exam, with 4,73,484 in the first shift and 4,35,096 in the second shift. The Ministry of Education took this decision after receiving information from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, suggesting possible compromises in the exam’s integrity. Now, the exam will be conducted again for all 9 lakh plus candidates, and new admit cards with updated details will be issued soon.
NET 2024 New Exam Date Releasing Soon
The UGC NET exam in 2024 will have a new date announced soon. This year, a total of 11,21,225 candidates registered for the exam. Among them, 6,35,587 were female, 4,85,579 were male, and 59 were third-gender candidates. Despite the large number of registrations, only 9,08,580 candidates (about 81%) took the exam before it was cancelled.
